Today we saw two Bryde’s whales right near where we are staying at the Secas Islands. We were thrilled with this sighting, since we usually must transit quite a way to get to where we typically see them. We spent some time getting identification photographs of their dorsal fins, which we will compare to photos from previous year to know if we’ve seen them before. Unfortunately, conditions were not great to fly the drone, which we are hoping to use in the future to determine the body condition and health of individual Bryde’s whales.
